2011 marks the 50th
anniversary of the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, and the
celebrations will run from the first race in March to the last race in
August. Activities planned include a special 50th anniversary

Bristol Motor Speedway (aka the Bristol International Raceway, Bristol
Raceway, and the Thunder Valley Dragstrip), located in Bristol,
Tennessee, was built in 1960, and hosted its first NASCAR race in 1961.
The Bristol Motor Speedway, famous for its short track and
steep banks, has speeds lower than most NASCAR tracks, and has more
yellow-flag laps than most NASCAR tracks. Annual NASCAR races include
NASCAR Practice Day (Ford Fan Friday); Scotts Turf Builder 300 (NASCAR Nationwide Series); Food City 500 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series); O'Reilly 200 (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series); Food City 250 (NASCAR Nationwide Series); and the Irwin Tools 500 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series), etc. Bristol Speedway races are held annually, generally between March and August.
